PPO (Polyphenylene Oxide), also known as PPE (Polyphenylene Ether), is a high-performance thermoplastic renowned for its exceptional dimensional stability, thermal resistance, and electrical insulation properties. Basic properties of polyphenylene ether
1. It is white particles. It has good comprehensive performance and can be used in 120-degree steam. It has good electrical insulation and low water absorption, but it has a tendency to stress cracking. Modified polyphenylene ether can eliminate stress cracking.
2. It has outstanding electrical insulation and excellent water resistance, good wear resistance and electrical properties, and good dimensional stability. Its dielectric properties rank first among plastics.
3. MPPO is a modified material made by blending PPO and HIPS. All materials on the market are of this type.
4. It has high heat resistance, a glass transition temperature of 211 degrees, a melting point of 268 degrees, and a tendency to decompose when heated to 330 degrees. The higher the PPO content, the better the heat resistance, and the heat deformation temperature can reach 190 degrees.
5. It has good flame retardancy, self-extinguishing properties, and has moderate flammability when mixed with HIPS. It is light and non-toxic and can be used in the food and pharmaceutical industries. It has poor light resistance and will discolor when used in the sun for a long time.
6. It can be blended and modified with ABS, HDPE, PPS, PA, HIPS, glass fiber, etc. Performance: PPO Chinese name is Polyphenylene Oxide, English name: Polyphenylene Oxide.
It is one of the world's five general engineering plastics. It has the advantages of large rigidity, high heat resistance, flame resistance, high strength and excellent electrical properties.

The dielectric strength and dielectric loss of PPO are one of the smallest varieties in engineering plastics, almost unaffected by temperature and humidity, and can be used in the field of low, medium and high frequency electric fields.
Application
In practical applications, most of them are MPPO (PPO blend or alloy). If PS is used to modify PPO, it can greatly improve processing performance, stress cracking resistance and impact resistance, reduce costs, but the heat resistance and gloss are slightly reduced.
Modified polymers include PS (including HIPS), PA, PTFE, PBT, PPS, and various elastomers. Polysiloxane and PS modified PPO have a long history and a large product volume. MPPO is the most commonly used engineering plastic alloy variety. The larger MPPO varieties include PPO/PS, PPO/PA/elastomers, and PPO/PBT/elastomer alloys.
